Recognition for our leading Apprenticeship programmes

Heat Exchange Group’s Head of HR Chloe Wallace was presented with the New Apprenticeship Employer of the Year Award, sponsored by Sigma Group Ltd, at the second annual Heart of Yorkshire Education Group Apprenticeship Awards.

Having been shortlisted alongside Bridlington Nursery School and Wakefield District Housing we were delighted to be recognised for our outstanding contribution to industry, skills development, and apprenticeships, through our holistic approach.

We were praised for our unique National Manufacturing Day, which hosted almost 100 Heart of Yorkshire students and budding young engineers, inspiring them to pursue careers in the sector and giving them an insight into what life is really like inside an internationally trading manufacturing business.

Our contribution to careers in the sector is visible through other events such as our Learning at Work Week, which will run for the 4th time this October, and our regular accommodation of work experience placements.

Heat Exchange Group’s Managing Director Matthew Crewe said:

“The judges recognised the importance of our contribution to the creation of a heat recovery curriculum as well as partnerships in industry that support wider skills development to meet the local and national needs of the manufacturing and heat recovery industries.”

Early in 2024 we welcomed two new apprentices in L2 and L3 Fabrication and Welding, bringing the total to four apprentices trained by Heat Exchange Group in the last 12 months. Over the next year we will take on further apprentices in this discipline, as well as explore our degree level apprenticeship offering. We will also employ two T-Level students in our engineering, design, and project management teams. All of this happens alongside the day-to-day investment in our valued teams.

Chloe Wallace said: “Heat Exchange Group is committed to having a positive influence on career pathways, through apprenticeships and other post 16 education opportunities to ensure the sustainable future of our industry, and we hope this inspires others in our market to take action.”
