Quality solution chosen by major power generator

Pha Lai thermal power plant in the Hai Duong province of northeast Vietnam has an installed electric capacity of 1,040 MW and is one of the largest coal-fired power generators in Southeast Asia.

Originally built in the 1980s as a 440MW facility the plant has grown considerably to meet business and consumer demand for electricity and currently generates over 7 billion kWh per year, some 10% of the country’s production through six boiler units.

Two of these boilers have economisers manufactured by Green’s that were fitted in the early 2000s. When the time came to replace them the Pha Lai Thermal Power Joint Stock Company undertook a comprehensive review to determine the best supplier for this project. They concluded that while they could select other suppliers, they would prefer to choose the high-quality economisers that Green’s manufactures in the UK to the exacting standards it has built up since the company was established in 1821.

Green’s UK factory manager Chris Wright says: “We are delighted to have been selected   again to supply to this extremely important project in Vietnam. The customer recognised the importance of the skills of our workforce and the high quality of the waste heat recovery equipment we produce. Green’s products are known globally for their reliability and longevity which means that this plant will be operational and efficient for many years to come.”
