We play vital role in helping Drax to convert to biomass
Green’s manufactured more than 200 economisers weighing in excess of 650 tonnes for installation by Doosan Babcock at Drax, one of the key organisations helping the UK to move to a low carbon future.
Fabricated on time and on budget in Green’s 4,200sqm factory in Wakefield, Yorkshire, the economisers were delivered so that they could be fitted during the customer’s outage ensuring the equipment was delivered in optimum condition on a ‘just in time’ basis.
Drax Power Economisers use Greens Power specialist ‘H’ Finned extended tube surface, this provides both a compact and highly efficient solution. All the equipment including the finned tubes was manufactured at Greens Power UK boiler pressure part fabrication workshops located at Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK.
First opened in 1974, Drax Power station is the UK’s largest power station with 6 x 660 MW Units capable of generating just under 4,000MW providing the UK with 7 to 8% of electrical supply. Drax Power is currently undergoing conversion to become a predominantly biomass fuelled generator with Boiler Unit 1 already converted and Boiler Unit 2 under conversion.
