Craig McColl, (CEng MEng BEng MIChemE), experienced sector leader and chartered engineer, has been appointed as Project Director – District Heating

This key appointment further bolsters our engineering and project management capability in the district heating sector, having successfully served numerous high-profile clients on projects in recent years. Craig joins a highly experienced team of experts, with the demonstrable capability of driving the execution of complex and multi-disciplinary heat exchange projects both domestically and globally.

Heat Exchange Group is the leading UK and worldwide supplier of the widest range of heat exchanger and industrial/marine boiler products and services.

Group Managing Director, Matthew Crewe commented:

“Craig joining our Senior Leadership Team, further establishes our position as leader in the heat exchange sector, and will enable us to better support and serve our client base, with many environmental and commercial business objectives becoming more focused on energy efficiency and green.”

A district heating system is a closed loop system that efficiently feeds several areas with heat, from a centralised (commonly underground), location, effectively utilising economy of scale. The systems use renewable energy, or utilise readily available waste heat, such as waste hot water, steam or gas, thus reducing those all-important emissions, and lowering fuel costs significantly.

District heating systems may include shell and tube heat exchangers, plate heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators and boilers, maximising energy utilisation for the system owner. The components of each district heating system are dependent on purpose and objectives of the individual client.

Craig, who will work closely with Matthew Crewe, Managing Director, and Neil Ford, Service Sales Director, to effectively consult and serve our clients’ energy efficiency needs, commented, “It’s an exciting time to join this fantastic team and company of great heritage. The legacy of the company, forged from the reputation of quality excellence, and engineering knowledge is something I’m privileged to be a part of. I’m keen to play a pivotal role in leading project delivery to the next level and ensuring that it is engineering through key projects to effectively enable and empower clients to reach industry environmental goals.”
