Green’s expertise delivers environmental and cost benefits to Ence
Green’s recently produced 646 of its proprietary H double finned tubes with a combined length of almost 7km for Ence’s 50MW power generation plant in San Juan del Puerto in the Huelva province of Southern Spain. The plant has a processing capacity of 600,000 tons per year of forest biomass and estimated annual production of 370 gigawatts per hour.
Green’s was commissioned by development specialists Ingenieria y Montajes Rias Bajas to produce economiser tube for the plant’s 40MW main boiler that would help Ence achieve its objectives.
Manufactured in Green’s UK factory to certificated EN standards, H double finned tubes bring a range of cost saving, environmental and operational benefits. They result in a more compact design that requires fewer tubes reducing in less steel required, while the increased heating surface means that steam or water is heated around 9 times more quickly reducing energy usage. Fouling is kept to a minimum by the straight paths through the whole tube bank which allows dust particles to pass through easily resulting in less maintenance and boiler downtime.
Jorge Santiago, project manager at Ingenieria y Montajes Rias Bajas says: “This was a fast turnaround job that required extremely high-quality manufacturing and reliable delivery. We trusted Green’s reputation for superior production and customer service and they didn’t disappoint us. We expect to be working with them on other projects soon.”
