Combining old and new to optimise James Cropper’s boiler performance

James Cropper creates distinctive and technically advanced paper products, using materials from cotton and wood to carbon fibre.  The company supports industries from packaging to digital imaging and aerospace with a wide range of products. Essential to its efficient operation is optimising use of energy for the production processes and other activities at its Cumbria plant, which is central to its £95m global business.

Having identified that its waste heat boiler was not working at peak performance levels and that this was being caused by a leak, James Cropper’s utilities engineer Stuart Bell called on Green’s. Because Green’s has comprehensive drawing archive records, they were able to locate the original diagrams that had been created when Green’s manufactured James Cropper’s boiler equipment in 1987.

Stuart says: “When it comes to industrial boiler repairs Green’s is the natural choice and because they have been in the business for so long they not only have the expertise required they have the legacy information too, which is very valuable to us.”
